Bowen Island Historians Museum & Archives

MISSION STATEMENT
  • To collect and record Bowen Island’s history
  • To catalogue and index collected material
  • To educate future generations in their heritage
  • To make historical information and material available
to the Bowen community and researchers.

The collected records and memories of a community are valuable resources. On Bowen, these records, photographs, and memorabilia are available in the community Museum and Archives. Our facilities are funded and managed by volunteers of the Bowen Island Historians, a lively group founded in 1967. The attractive two-storey building opened in 1996, and the second museum—the Bertie Higgins Logger’s Cottage—opened in 2001.

The volunteers use fund-raising and grants to maintain the Museum buildings and the park-like property, as well as the equipment needed to manage the Museum and Archive collections. Donations and bequests of any size are tremendously helpful, while membership and volunteer involvement are vital to the success of this community endeavor.

The Historians always welcome new members. To obtain an application form click here and print the page. Fill it out and send it to us!
